In a recent staff meeting, the Hattaway team took a moment to reflect on one year of living and working in quarantine. We each answered the question, “What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself during the pandemic?”

We miss each other’s company. We don’t miss long days and nights on the road. We discovered unknown depths of resilience. We re-energized by returning to nature. We’re truly grateful for our jobs, our health, our friends, and our families.

We’ve been privileged to do good work with great organizations—such as Code for America’s program to help low-income families get stimulus checks, and the Rockefeller Foundation’s initiative to promote COVID testing, contact tracing, and vaccination.

With the advent of spring and the promise of vaccines for all Americans, we’re looking hopefully to the future.

We’ve begun exploring new ways of operating in a “hybrid” environment, including how to ensure equity when some of us work in the office and others work remotely. Our friends at Match Pace offer other smart questions and considerations about transitioning to new ways of working.

The next New Normal is months away. In the meantime, we’ll reach out to clients and colleagues to explore how best to work together with you.

How are you addressing the ongoing challenges and the change ahead? We’d love to hear how you’re doing and how we could help: info@hattaway.com.
