Junior Research Associate

As a Junior Associate on our research team, you’ll work with our talented team to develop the research basis for our strategic communications programs and campaigns. This role will focus primarily on quantitative research, although understanding of qualitative research is a plus.

  • Take a significant role in designing, fielding, and analyzing communications research with oversight.
  • Conduct initial analysis, including compiling topline findings and crosstab analysis of survey data with oversight.
  • Participate in team discussions to develop rich insights from survey data and their application to the client’s challenge.
  • Conduct in-depth content analyses of news coverage, social media conversation and communications materials with oversight.
  • Learn and grow, utilizing opportunities such as professional development and training to develop skills that will improve the work we do.
  • Work closely with managers to understand critical feedback and incorporate changes to draft work products
  • Anticipate and provide support for project team administrative needs (i.e., meeting setup, scheduling, taking meeting notes, etc.)


  • Up to two years of professional experience in audience research for marketing, strategic communications, content development, or a related area.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in political science, psychology, or other relevant social sciences; statistics; journalism; communications; or a related field.
  • Strong writing skills, and the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Experience using Excel, Keynote, and/or Powerpoint.
  • Experience in statistics, polling, or other survey fielding and analysis.
  • Support the firm’s mission and purpose, demonstrating a passion for the power of strategic communications to contribute to positive change.
  • Curiosity or interest in applying research and analysis to create communications that achieve measurable impact.
  • A proven ability to meet deadlines and manage complexity.
  • A commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to an equitable workplace and the effort it takes to maintain one.
  • Creativity, a sense of humor and a grasp of what makes compelling audience insights.

  • Relevant experience in politics, philanthropy, advocacy, marketing, branding, or government.
  • Ideas for applying linguistic insights and techniques to analysis of qualitative and media data.

Our offices are located in downtown Washington, D.C., between the Dupont Circle and Farragut North metro stations. We offer competitive benefits including a flexible work environment. The salary range for this position is $45,000-$55,000, depending on experience.
